Eversource currently has two 115,000 (115 kV) transmission lines along the Walk Bridge railroad corridor. CT DOT regulations do not permit utility attachments on railroad bridges. The transmission lines must be relocated prior to the construction of the new Walk Bridge.

In 2016 Eversource initiated discussions with “Norwalk officials” and in April of 2017, Norwalk, CT DOT and Eversource reportedly reached “agreement” on a proposed route for the transmission lines.

That route begins near the police station and goes under the harbor from 90 Water Street, through the Visitor’s Docks and underneath the newly installed parking lot in Veteran’s Park before re-emerging to connect with overhead installations on Fort Point Street.
