Consideration under Section 1.06 of the Connecticut General Statutes will need to be given to historical impacts from the projects.
The extended roadwork will run past the Historical East Norwalk Cemetary, home of the Yankee Doodle Dandy gravesite.
The bridgework will abut this historical marker next to the East Norwalk Railway Station.
The bridge abutments currently includes red sandstone known as brownstone, quarried in the Connecticut River Valley. The new abutments will replace this valuable material with concrete forms and there are no plans to re-use the existing stone.
